Lesson #2

Secret #1 - Hard-Skills vs. Soft-Skills

  • DURATION: 8 minutes

There are secrets. Not because they are not known to MBA students. But, because they have been overlooked so often. Here is the first of the three secrets that will help you carve your own career path in Marketing in the direction that you want to take it to.

Hard-Skills Are More Important Than Soft-Skills

You heard it in this lesson. For you, right now, hard-skills are more important than soft-skills. This is true for you and for everyone like you who wants to control their career in the field of Marketing.

And the good news for you is that very few people would agree to this.

Chances are maybe no one around you in your B-school right now may agree with this.

And that is exactly why you need to secretly feel happy about this secret because what you know is rarely agreed upon knowledge. All you need to do now is work upon it.

I shared with you in the video this data that I put together for you. When you look at it in the context of the industry, you will not need much to convince yourself about it. You might think that it is crazy how this is a secret.

What you need to remind yourself is that your hard-skills will take you further ahead in your career. It gives you the ability to create your own world, the ability to develop and do.

In my case, my hard-skills gave me the confidence to overcome my soft-skill challenges. That's the power of hard-skills. They compensate for other things.

I agree. subject knowledge matters. soft skills are more about beating around the bush.. hard skills is the one that defines about you. no use of soft skills if are weak in the subject matter. hard skills help in actual navigation and soft skills in the process may provide you a direction.

My key takeaway from this session was hard skills are more important than soft skills,as hard skills are the foundation and soft skills are just the floors on that foundation…Without the foundation you are not going to feel confident and hence, your soft skills will suffer, too, but not vice versa,as foundation can lead to floors someday or the other…Thanks a lot Darpan for this wonderful and insightful session😇
